Lahore, June 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz has ordered all departments to remain alert regarding anti-dengue and said that work should not be done in a typical stereo manner. Departments should actively deliver for anti-dengue measures. There is a clear difference between anti-dengue activities and larvae identification data.
This practice would not be tolerated in future. He said that there should be consistency in anti-dengue activities and larvae identification data. The activities of field teams should be updated on the dashboard with time and date along with video and pictorial evidence. Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz said that departments have to be vigilant for anti-dengue measures.
Anti-dengue should be started at union council and ward levels and elected representatives should also be taken on board in this regard. Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz said that he would not tolerate any leniency and he would regularly review the performance of each department and district. Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz directed to set up a special cell in the commissioner’s office and said that the performance of field teams should be monitored regularly.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, MPAP Ashraf Rasool, Chief Secretary, Secretaries of relevant departments, Head of Institute of Public Health, medical experts and Administrative officers attended the meeting. Deputy Commissioners and CEOs of Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Multan and Gujranwala participated the meeting via video link.
Later, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz in which pre-monsoon preparations were reviewed. The meeting reviewed the proposal of insulation / rubber painting on power poles for protection against electric shock.
Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz directed that construction of underground water tank should be completed as soon as possible. Ensure timely evacuation of settlements and other safety measures in view of possible flood danger in Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Mianwali and other cities. He said that with regard to floods, WASA Lahore SOPs should be extended to other cities as well. Commissioner Lahore Division gave a detailed briefing on District Disaster Management, Population Evacuation and Flood Plan.
The Commissioner said that the process of de-silting of sewer lines in Lahore was almost complete and third party valuation was also underway. The District Flood Control Room has been set up for effective monitoring of possible floods and 16 disposal stations in Lahore are fully functional.
Special Assistant Khawaja Ahmad Hassan, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-Ur-Rehman, Syed Tauseef Shah, Secretary Housing, Irrigation, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Lahore, MD Solid Waste Management and other officials attended the meeting. Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz directed to run an effective and systematic campaign against drugs and directed CCPO Lahore to take full action against drug trafficking.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz said that Rs.200 billion was being given as subsidy on flour to provide relief to the people in difficult times. Cancer and other medicines will be free. Medical treatment facilities in Kot Khawaja Saeed, Syed Matha and Yakki Gate hospitals will be improved.
Instructions have been issued to WASA for water supply. Filtration plants across Lahore were being restored. We will solve the problem of non-supply of gas. We will look into the construction of parking plazas to solve the parking problems. Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz said that he firmly believes in service delivery and not politics.
I will go to every small and big city to cure the problems and sufferings of the people. I salute the party workers who have been struggling for a long time and endured oppression. Ahmed Butt and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
