Jokihat, June 28, 2021 (PPI-OT): Mob lynching of Muslims has become a routine in India as more than 10 cases of brutal lynching have been reported in 50 days during pandemic. In the latest case, a 27-year-old Muslim youth named Mohammed Ismail, was beaten to death by a mob in Jokihat in Bihar’s Araria district on Saturday night. The incident took place in Yadav Tola area, falling under Jokihat police station area. Sub-divisional Police Officer in Araria, Pushkar Kumar said that the two people have been arrested, so far, and claimed that the villagers beat Ismail to death following they accused him of theft.
A mob of about a dozen people brutally assaulted him with sticks and knives while accusing him of theft, Maktoob media reported. Bibi Musarrat, wife of the deceased, and sister, Reehana said that Ismail used to go to Yadav Tola village daily to bring milk. “Like every day, he went to fetch milk on Saturday night. He is not a thief. He went outside for livelihood. Is it a crime? It is a conspiracy. The murderers should be punished,” Musarrat said. They demanded strong action against the killers and justice for Ismaili who was the sole breadwinner of the family.
