Annual Urs Draws Thousands to Charar-e-Sharief Shrine in IIOJK

Srinagar, 14 Oct 2023: Thousands of devotees convened at the Charar-e-Sharief shrine in Budgam district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to commemorate the annual Urs of Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA), who is also revered as Sheikh-ul-Aalam, Alamdar-e-Kashmir, and Nund Reshi.

Kashmir Media Service reports that attendees at the mausoleum included men, women, and children who came to pay their respects to the renowned Sufi saint. Alongside the traditional observances, many devotees participated in ‘Shab Khawani’, a congregational nightlong prayer session. During this session, special prayers were articulated, calling for the prompt liberation of Jammu and Kashmir from its current status and for the overall prosperity of the region.

In remembrance of Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA), religious scholars enlightened the gathering about the saint’s life, his significant religious contributions, teachings, and spiritual impact. Known for his efforts in the 14th and 15th centuries, Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA) emphasized the values of simplicity, truthfulness, justice, love, and service to humanity in his teachings.
