Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid greets Muslims on Ramadan

Srinagar, March 24, 2023 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar has extended its heartiest greetings and best wishes to the Muslims, especially the people of Jammu and Kashmir, on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan. According to Kashmir Media Service, the Anjuman in a statement said that on the occasion of the first Friday of Ramadan, a large number of people, including men, women and youth, came to the Jamia Masjid from across the valley, however, they were deeply disappointed due to the absence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. It strongly condemned the continued detention of the Mirwaiz. This is a blatant breach in the religious matters of the Muslims of valley which is highly regrettable, it said.

On the occasion, people raised their hands to strongly condemn the illegal and arbitrary detention of the Mirwaiz and expressed resentment against this behaviour of the occupation authorities. The Anjuman said that it was the 187th consecutive Friday that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was not allowed to deliver the Juma sermon and offer Juma prayers, which is extremely sad.

After the Friday prayer, many worshipers while talking to the media expressed their dismay over this decision of the authorities, urging them to release the Mirwaiz from arbitrary detention. The Anjuman also said that many worshipers who came to offer Friday prayer in Jama Masjid complained that policemen took their mobile phones and ID cards and then allowed them to enter the grand mosque. It urged the police officials to avoid causing such inconvenience to the worshipers.
