Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students protested on campus, urging swift action against those responsible for the recent violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the students submitted a memorandum addressed to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, expressing concerns over the rising unrest and neglect of constitutional values. They highlighted the disregard for laws safeguarding heritage structures as a contributing factor to societal chaos.
Calling for immediate action, the memorandum urged the Indian Supreme Court to take suo moto cognizance of the incident and ensure impartial justice. “Without strict measures, the unrest could escalate,” the students warned.
The demonstration concluded with the memorandum handed to the university’s Proctor, Prof Wasim Ali, for submission to the President. The Sambhal violence, which resulted in casualties, has sparked outrage across Indian Muslim community, with AMU students emphasizing the need for justice and stability.
