Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has criticized Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as a strategic move to divert international attention from alleged human rights violations occurring in the area.

In a statement issued by the APHC, spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas accused Shah’s visit of being a staged effort to present a deceptive image of normalcy in a region that, according to the organization, remains under illegal occupation by India.

The APHC further claimed that the presence of the Indian home minister in a territory recognized by the United Nations as disputed serves as an affront to the local population, who continue to face daily challenges in their pursuit of self-determination. The spokesperson suggested that the visit aligns with the broader agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which the APHC perceives as antagonistic towards Kashmir and its Muslim residents.

Minhas asserted that for the Kashmiri people, Amit Shah represents a figure complicit in the military operations conducted by Indian forces in the region. He labeled Shah as the principal architect behind these actions, which the APHC views as oppressive.

The Hurriyat Conference concluded that visits by Indian officials to the region are perceived by locals as mere propaganda efforts, lacking any meaningful impact on a community living under constant military presence. The spokesperson emphasized that such tours fail to address the underlying realities and grievances experienced by the people in Jammu and Kashmir.
