Mumbai, December 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):Amid tensions with China, the Indian Navy has added the warship INS Mormugao to its fleet. The ship is equipped with advanced sensors, radar and surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles, and is designed for nuclear, biological and chemical warfare. The ship is also equipped with a modern radar system and Brahamos supersonic cruise missile with a range of 450 km. The ship is also capable of destroying stealth guided missiles.
The ship is 163 meters long and 17 meters wide and has a maximum speed of 30 nautical miles per hour. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Indian Naval Chief Admiral R. Harikumar were also present at the ceremony of handing over the ship to the Navy in Mumbai.
