Ambassador Urges Pakistani Community in U.S. to Promote Urdu and Cultural Heritage

Virginia: In a recent event held in Woodbridge, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, called on the Pakistani community residing in the U.S. to actively engage in promoting Urdu language and cultural heritage. Highlighting Urdu as a “national asset,” he emphasized the importance of making future generations aware of the country’s rich literary and cultural legacy.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, the Ambassador made these remarks while addressing an event dedicated to the acclaimed poet Asadullah Khan Ghalib. The gathering, organized by Bazm-e-Harf-o-Sukhan, a subsidiary of Muslim Response USA, saw participation from notable literary figures, community leaders, and media representatives.

The Ambassador stressed the necessity of preserving and promoting Urdu literature, urging the community to leverage modern technology for these efforts. He reiterated that Urdu is a core component of national identity and that its promotion would enhance the sense of Pakistani identity.

In his address, Ambassador Sheikh also highlighted recent initiatives by the Pakistani Embassy, including an exhibition of Islamic calligraphy, aimed at promoting Pakistani arts and literature. He mentioned plans to document and publish Embassy events as part of historical records.

The event concluded with the Ambassador honoring various individuals for their contributions to the community and congratulating Bazm-e-Harf-o-Sukhan for their successful organization of the tribute to Ghalib.
