New York, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram, highlighted India’s longstanding denial of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination while addressing a youth delegation in New York.
According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussion took place on the sidelines of the three-day Global Peace Summit. The Ambassador characterized India’s stance as contrary to international law, the United Nations Charter, and the United Nations Security Council resolutions. He emphasized the significant sacrifices Kashmiris have made in their struggle for freedom from what he termed as India’s “illegal and immoral occupation.” Reflecting on the broader situation in the Middle East, Akram pointed out that unresolved disputes can escalate and threaten regional peace. He also brought attention to the “Kashmir Black Day,” recognized as a symbol of international commitment to Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, Akram praised the youth’s dedication to peace initiatives and combating climate change challenges.
