Islamabad, 17 Oct 2023:Ambassador Masood Khan emphasized the vast investment opportunities in Pakistan, calling on the Pakistani-American community to further engage in sectors like IT, energy, mining, and agriculture. During multiple interactions in Chicago, including meetings with entrepreneurs, professionals, and students, Khan spotlighted the significant role of the Pak-American community in strengthening the socio-economic bond between the two nations.
The Press Information Department revealed that in his remarks, Ambassador Khan pointed out that Pakistani-Americans have already made notable investments in diverse sectors within Pakistan, such as hospitality, telephony, medical transcription and billing, and tele-medicine, among others. “All they need is to scale up their investments,” he stated. Moreover, he stressed the importance of investing in Pakistan as a means of fortifying the relationship between Pakistan and the U.S.
In separate events with the Pakistani-American community, including a session at DePaul University, Khan expressed his belief in the community’s role as a pivotal bridge between the countries, urging them to promote people-to-people relations and rectify any misperceptions surrounding the two nations. He encouraged the audience to play an active role in urging U.S businesses to explore the untapped potentials of Pakistan, further solidifying the bilateral economic relationship.
During a gathering at the residence of the Consul General, Congressman Jonathan Jackson commended the Pakistani-American community’s dedication and contributions to American society, pledging his commitment to enhancing Pakistan-US relations.
In a dinner event hosted by Pakistani-American entrepreneur and CEO of Chestnut Health, Mr. Omair Siraj, Ambassador Khan detailed the country’s strategy to facilitate foreign investments, emphasizing the key role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in the process. The Ambassador outlined various incentives, particularly in the IT and agriculture sectors, highlighting attractive tax benefits and holding rights designed to appeal to potential investors.
Ambassador Khan also interacted with the Pakistani Student Association of DePaul University, emphasizing their pivotal role as future leaders in fostering Pakistan-US relations. He underscored the importance of their education in the U.S, urging them to capitalize on this opportunity to acquire skills that would eventually benefit Pakistan’s economy.
