Islamabad, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Masood Khan, emphasized the significance of Pakistani students and professionals benefiting from internationally recognized educational institutions in the US. During a recent interaction, he discussed the longstanding educational ties between Pakistan and the US and the shared goal of enhancing these relationships through increased exchanges.
According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Khan conversed with 15 mid-career Pakistani professionals from both the public and private sectors who are currently participating in the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program in the US. These professionals are furthering their studies across diverse disciplines in premier US universities. The Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program is designed to provide professionals from developing nations, including Pakistan, a year-long opportunity to study and gain professional experiences in the US. Fellows are chosen based on their leadership potential and commitment to public service. This year, the program welcomed 17 professionals from Pakistan.
During the meeting, the Ambassador underscored the recalibrated relations between Pakistan and the US following the post-withdrawal period. Both nations, he highlighted, are diligently working to fortify their partnership in essential domains such as trade and investment, climate change, energy, agriculture, health, and education. The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of robust disease surveillance and vaccine production to tackle future pandemics. Encouraging the fellows, he said, “You are the ambassadors of Pakistan. Help project the true image of the country and play your role to develop new linkages between professionals of the two countries.” He concluded by wishing the visiting professionals a fruitful stay in the United States.
