Srinagar: The Amarnath Yatra, a significant Hindu pilgrimage, has been temporarily suspended today due to ongoing heavy rainfall affecting the Baltal and Pahalgam routes in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian authorities decided to pause the pilgrimage as a safety precaution following persistent heavy rain that started last night. This measure aims to protect the well-being of the pilgrims journeying to the sacred Amarnath cave, situated 3,800 meters above sea level in the south Kashmir Himalayas.
The pilgrimage began on June 29 and has already seen over 150,000 participants this year. It was scheduled to continue until August 19, traversing the 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Islamabad district and the 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal.
