All Parties Hurriyat Conference Decries Human Rights Abuses in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has issued a stark condemnation of the intensifying cordon and search operations (CASOs) by Indian forces in Jammu and Kashmir, which they claim are causing widespread destruction and escalating human rights violations in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas detailed the situation in a statement, describing the affected areas, including Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, and Kupwara. He described the operations as brutal and accusatory, claiming they serve as a pretext for the Indian forces to suppress and intimidate the Kashmiri populace.

Minhas criticized these operations as vindictive measures by the Modi regime, intended to stifle the Kashmiri demand for autonomy and worsen the region’s dire conditions. He called on the international community to intervene and halt what he views as severe infringements on human rights.

Furthermore, APHC leader Shaikh Abdul Majid highlighted another grievance regarding the Indian government’s plans to allocate land to non-native entities, seeing it as an attempt to change the demographic makeup of the region and undermine the cultural and political rights of its indigenous people. Majid appealed for global attention and action against these policies, which he believes threaten the peace and stability of Jammu and Kashmir.
