Islamabad: Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has strongly criticized the recent elections held in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), asserting that these polls do not fulfill the Kashmiris’ inherent right to self-determination. His comments underscore ongoing tensions and the complex political dynamics surrounding the disputed territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq voiced his concerns while meeting with former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan at the latter’s residence in Islamabad. During their discussions, they examined the current political and human rights conditions in IIOJK, expressing grave concerns over the legitimacy and implications of the electoral process under heavy military presence.
The AJK Prime Minister described the elections as a “so-called election drama,” orchestrated by the Indian government amidst the oversight of an extensive military force. He emphasized that such measures could not replace the genuine, internationally recognized right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by several key members of the AJK government, including the State Education Minister Diwan Ali Khan Chaghtai, Health Minister Dr. Nisar Ansar Abdali, Information Minister Pir Mazhar Saeed Shah, and others, indicating the level of importance attached to the discussions.
