Rawalpindi, The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, paid tribute to Rais-ul-Ahrar Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas on the 56th anniversary of his passing. The commemoration included a visit to Abbas’s grave, where Haq laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event was attended by prominent figures, including former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan. Other attendees included Ministers Dewan Ali Khan Chaghtai and Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, along with a police contingent presenting a guard of honor. The arrangements were supervised by Zafar Mehmood Khan, Secretary of Services and General Administration.
The ceremony, held at Faizabad in Rawalpindi, also featured speeches from various dignitaries, including Sardar Atiq Ahmad Khan, who emphasized the significance of the policy of accession to Pakistan set by Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas and Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan. He stressed the importance of continuing the freedom movement and remaining steadfast in their mission.
The event also saw the participation of former Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, former President Muslim Conference Mirza Muhammad Shafiq Jaral, and other key leaders and advocates. They discussed the need for a solid strategy in consultation with national and political leadership and reaffirmed the decision to join Pakistan as a fundamental asset.
The speeches highlighted the connection between the Kashmir issue and the Pakistani armed forces, with appreciation for their efforts in bringing attention to the Kashmir and Palestine disputes.
The gathering not only served as a remembrance of Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas’s sacrifices but also as a platform to discuss ongoing strategies and commitments related to the Kashmir cause.
