AJK Prime Minister Calls for International Intervention in Kashmir Dispute

Islamabad, The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq, has called on the international community to intervene and aid in resolving the protracted Kashmir dispute. This appeal comes amid escalating tensions and deteriorating human rights conditions in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a meeting with the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference chief and former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Atique Ahmed Khan in Islamabad, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq expressed grave concern over the political and human rights crisis in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He highlighted that the unresolved nature of the Kashmir dispute is both a cause and consequence of the rights violations perpetrated by Indian troops in the occupied territory.

The AJK Prime Minister emphasized the further aggravation of the situation since the Modi government’s revocation of IIOJK’s special status, deeming the action a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions. He also criticized the Indian Supreme Court’s verdict on the special status of IIOJK, stating that the Kashmiri people reject both India’s military occupation and the Court’s biased decision.

Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq affirmed the AJK government’s commitment to utilizing all available resources to advocate for the Kashmiri cause internationally, aiming to bring attention to the need for resolving the dispute in accordance with UNSC resolutions.

The meeting also discussed the recent Kashmir conference held in Kotli, which was attended by representatives from all political parties in Azad Kashmir and the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), supporting Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

Sardar Atique Ahmed Khan assured the AJK Prime Minister of his party’s unwavering support in strengthening the freedom struggle in Kashmir.
