AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry Declares India’s Independence Day as ‘Black Day’ for Kashmir

London: Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has voiced a strong condemnation of India’s actions in Occupied Kashmir during a recent statement, labeling India’s Independence Day as a ‘Black Day’ and accusing India of altering the region’s demography through coercive policies.

According to President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri population marked India’s Independence Day with black flags and protests to signal their rejection of India’s authority and highlight ongoing human rights violations. President Chaudhry criticized India’s efforts to change the demographic makeup of Occupied Kashmir by issuing domicile certificates to non-state residents, aiming to dilute the native Kashmiri presence.

President Chaudhry reiterated the international dimension of the Kashmir issue, referencing United Nations resolutions that he argues India is violating. He also accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of leading policies detrimental to the Kashmiri people, including the displacement of residents, seizure of properties, and unjust imprisonment of Hurriyat leaders. The AJK President warned against India’s plans to conduct elections in the region, claiming that such efforts would not legitimize India’s control over Kashmir.
