Islamabad, In a historic move set to revolutionize public services in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the region celebrated the inauguration of its first Protectorate of Emigrants Offices in Bagh and Rawalakot. This initiative, led by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Mr. Jawad Sohrab Malik, marks a significant leap forward in supporting the local population with enhanced access to overseas employment opportunities.
According to Press Information Department, the opening of these offices represents a critical milestone in the government’s commitment to improving public service delivery and facilitating the citizens of AJK. The lack of such facilities had previously required the residents of Bagh and Rawalakot to undertake arduous journeys and incur substantial expenses to access similar services in Rawalpindi.
During the inauguration ceremony, SAPM Malik highlighted the transformative impact of the new offices, “The inauguration of these protectorate offices is not just an achievement but a historic day for the people of Kashmir, especially for the residents of Bagh and Rawalakot. This initiative will significantly alleviate the hardships faced by our citizens in accessing essential services for legal labor migration.”
The newly established offices in Bagh and Rawalakot are expected to streamline the migration process for the region’s workforce, offering critical services such as pre-departure orientation, facilitation of employment opportunities abroad, and community outreach programs right at their doorstep. This development promises to reduce the financial and logistical hurdles that have long plagued potential overseas workers from AJK.
Furthermore, the forthcoming inauguration of the Capital Protectorate office in Islamabad, alongside additional offices in Abbottabad and Sukkur, reinforces the government’s resolve to boost employment prospects for Pakistanis both at home and abroad. These efforts are a testament to SAPM Malik’s dedication to curbing unemployment and bolstering the national economy through the contributions of the overseas migrant workforce.
