Islamabad, The Governing Body of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical Colleges convened at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, chaired by Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar Haq, to address pressing issues facing the region’s medical education sector. Key discussions included faculty shortages and the prioritization of merit in college administrative processes.
According to Press Information Department – Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the meeting was attended by senior officials including Most Senior Minister Colonel Retd Waqar Ahmad Noor, Public Works Minister Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, and Chief Secretary Dawood Muhammad Barich, among others. The Principal of Medical College Mirpur provided a comprehensive briefing on current challenges and developments.
Prime Minister Haq emphasized the government’s commitment to resolving the issues of medical colleges in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the critical shortage of faculty. He instructed concerned authorities to ensure that meritocracy prevails in all aspects of medical college operations to uphold fairness and prevent grievances.
The session also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of medical education and healthcare services in the region, underscoring the government’s priority to bolster health sector infrastructure and staffing.
