New Delhi: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has called on the BJP government to restore ownership of Waqf properties to their rightful owners, claiming significant tracts of land across India are unlawfully occupied.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, the president of AIUDF and a prominent Assam politician, voiced these demands during a meeting in Assam. Ajmal accused the BJP government of deliberately hindering the process of returning approximately 9.7 lakh acres of Waqf properties, which he asserts rightfully belong to the Waqf boards as they were originally donated by ancestors for community welfare.
Ajmal emphasized the historical and religious importance of these lands, insisting that their control be reinstated to the Waqf. He highlighted controversial claims that several high-profile sites, including the residence of Ambani in Mumbai and the Parliament building in New Delhi, are situated on what should be Waqf property.
The AIUDF leader also criticized the effectiveness of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) assigned to address this issue, suggesting its efforts have fallen short of making meaningful progress.
