New Delhi: Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has strongly criticized the recent amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, which increase the powers of the Lt Governor over the elected government.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Owaisi expressed concern that these changes would undermine the effectiveness of the elected government by allowing the Lt Governor to assume extensive control over key administrative functions. He likened the situation in Jammu and Kashmir to that of Puducherry, where the Lt Governor holds substantial authority. These developments come as Jammu and Kashmir anticipates upcoming assembly elections, raising questions about the future political dynamics of the region.
