AIIB Reiterates Commitment to Pakistan’s Development and Climate Goals.


Islamabad: Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has reiterated its commitment to supporting Pakistan in meeting its development goals and overcoming climate-related challenges through policy and budgetary support. This assurance was made during a meeting between a delegation of AIIB, led by Vice President Client Region and Project Finance Global Konstantin Limitovskiy, and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the AIIB delegation expressed their view of Pakistan as an important partner country. They briefed Minister Aurangzeb on the Bank’s portfolio investments in Pakistan, highlighting projects in hydropower generation, road and transport infrastructure, urban development, and climate resilience. Additionally, they discussed initiatives addressing the impacts of pandemics, conflicts, and climate-induced flood disasters.



Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb acknowledged AIIB’s support, particularly in funding and technical assistance for natural disaster management and climate change preparedness. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of AIIB projects in Pakistan and emphasized the need for enhanced efforts to improve the disbursement of ongoing projects.
