Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has called upon the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to aid in the development of a judicial information system for Pakistan. Addressing a delegation from the ADB Pakistan Mission, led by Senior Director Tariq Niazi, in Islamabad, Iqbal emphasized the need for technological advancements to streamline judicial and police operations in the country.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Minister proposed the establishment of a comprehensive police information system designed to integrate the operations of all 1,500 police stations across Pakistan. This system aims to enhance efficiency by detailing each station’s jurisdiction and eliminating human manipulation through technology. Additionally, Iqbal appealed for an increase in the concessional financing limit offered by the ADB in light of the significant economic challenges posed by climate change.
Iqbal further identified the expansion of exports as a crucial hurdle for Pakistan’s economy, soliciting the ADB’s support in developing programs to bolster export growth. The Minister’s appeal underscores the broader economic reforms sought by the government to address pressing national challenges.
