Ahsan Iqbal Lauds Effective Monsoon Response at National Disaster Management Meeting

Islamabad: At the 4th meeting of the National Disaster Response Committee, chaired by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, updates on monsoon responses and planning for upcoming seasonal challenges were main discussion points. The focus was particularly on potential emergencies in South Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, representatives from Pakistan Railway and the National Highway Authority reported on infrastructure damages during recent rain emergencies. NDMA officials provided insights into the current monsoon’s impact, water reservoir conditions, and risk assessments. They also detailed NDMA’s preparedness and response strategies.

NDMA Chairman, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, briefed the committee on plans for humanitarian relief in flood-affected regions of Bangladesh, if necessary. Minister Iqbal praised the coordinated efforts of all involved agencies for their robust response to the monsoon emergencies and directed further proactive measures in vulnerable areas.
