Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has called for concerted efforts to revive Pakistan’s lost glory in hockey by promoting young talent, strengthening institutional support, and encouraging greater private sector participation in sports.

According to Press Information Department, the minister made this appeal while addressing a signing ceremony marking a partnership between the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and Vital Group. The collaboration aims to promote youth engagement and strengthen ties with the Pakistan national hockey team.

During his address, Ahsan Iqbal described hockey as a crucial part of Pakistan’s national identity and expressed confidence in the country’s potential to reclaim its position in international hockey. He stressed the importance of encouraging young players to continue the legacy of Pakistan’s golden era in the sport.

The minister underscored the role of private sector support in promoting sports and aiding athletes, suggesting that financial security would allow players to focus on their performance.
