Islamabad: H.E Khazar Farhadov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, met with Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema to discuss the upcoming Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) between the two countries, scheduled for December 3-4, 2024. The Minister expressed optimism that the 8th JMC would yield positive results in terms of trade.
According to Press Information Department, the JMC will be co-chaired by the Minister for Defence Production from the Pakistani side. Ahad Cheema noted that the decisions made during the 7th JMC are currently being implemented, with both nations taking these steps seriously. He assured that the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Defence Production will work closely with the Government of Azerbaijan to ensure the JMC’s practical outcomes.
Cheema mentioned efforts to establish an ‘Azerbaijan Trade House’ in Pakistan, with further details to be announced pending Azerbaijan’s approval. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming JMC in discussing trade terms across various sectors and acknowledged the role of previous JMCs in fostering cooperation in trade, agriculture, energy, defense, and tourism.
Additionally, Cheema and Farhadov agreed to expedite meetings of the Joint Working Groups (JWG) in various sectors. The Minister instructed officials from the Economic Affairs Division to draft a protocol with relevant ministries and share it with the Azerbaijani Embassy. He concluded by commending Khazar Farhadov’s efforts to strengthen communication between the two countries.
