Islamabad, July 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja Chaired the conference on International Development and implementing partner organizations at the Prime Minister’s Office. Representatives of UN agencies, NGO’s and partner organizations attended the meeting and discussed areas of mutual interest and partnership.
SAPM said that Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is focused on the uprising of the underdeveloped young population in different parts of the country. We aim to transform youth from job seekers to job creators. Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is an effort to channelize all the youth initiatives being run in the country. Initiatives under PMYP are imperative because they have direct impacts on the economy and development of Pakistan.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja narrated that Agriculture Business, Effective Energy Policy, and Women Empowerment are the key areas where our government is focusing on. She further said that under PMYP we are diversifying the initiatives so that we can target and benefit the maximum number of young population in Pakistan.
Participants appreciated the efforts of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and shared information about their ongoing initiatives for the betterment of Pakistan’s Youth. Dignitaries highlighted that sustainable energy is the way forward and there is a big need of engaging youth in projects which will play role in the propagation of achieving sustainable development goals along with youth empowerment.
SAPM highlighted the importance of informal education in the modern world. She said that the unemployment rate of our university graduates is 30 percent. Therefore, youth should be encouraged at early stages to acquire skills that will ultimately enable them to earn a livelihood without depending on others. Representatives shared the statistics of their performance in the field of technical education, Women Empowerment, Youth Engagement, Civic Partnership, refugee rehabilitation, Digital Development, and other targeted areas.
SAPM appreciated the keen interest of international organizations in playing a role to empower the young population of Pakistan. Participants were briefed about the detailed roadmap and plan of the Prime Minister’s Youth programme. Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that PMYP is looking forward to collaborating with all the international and national organizations to employ, educate and engage the youth of Pakistan.
