Aged Man Collapses and Dies at Attari-Wagah Border Before Deportation to Pakistan


Amritsar: An aged man from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, identified as Abdul Hamid Butt, died at the Attari-Wagah border before he could be deported to Pakistan. Butt, of Kashmiri origin, had returned from Pakistan in the late 1980s and had been residing in the Kashmir Valley.



According to the Kashmir Media Service, Butt was forcibly taken by Indian police to the border, where he suddenly collapsed and died. The circumstances surrounding his forced deportation remain unclear.



Authorities moved his body for a post-mortem examination, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday. The incident occurred as authorities continued deportation activities throughout the day.



Further details regarding the reasons for Butt’s deportation and the conditions leading to his death have not been disclosed. The incident raises questions about the treatment of individuals being deported from the region.
