ADB President Tours Cultural Landmarks in Islamabad with Ministry of Economic Affairs


Islamabad: The Ministry of Economic Affairs hosted a city tour for Masatsugu Asakawa, President of the Asian Development Bank, showcasing major cultural landmarks in Islamabad. The tour included visits to Pakistan Monuments in Shakarparian and the Faisal Mosque, where President Asakawa engaged in tree planting and appreciated the architectural and cultural significance of the sites.



According to Press Information Department, the visit began at Pakistan Monuments where President Asakawa participated in a tree planting ceremony and paid his respects at the Martyrs’ Monument. The Secretary of Economic Affairs, Dr. Kazim Niaz, presented President Asakawa with traditional gifts including a Ghandhara art album, a cultural cap from Gilgit-Baltistan, and a shawl from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. President Asakawa expressed admiration for Pakistan Monuments, noting its beauty and cultural importance.



The tour concluded at the Faisal Mosque where President Asakawa received a briefing on the mosque’s historical and artistic elements. He praised the Islamic art showcased within the mosque and remarked positively on its architectural design.
