Islamabad: During a meeting with Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Emma Fan, the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), reaffirmed ADB’s commitment to bolster BISP’s initiatives aimed at supporting Pakistan’s underprivileged families. The discussions centered on enhancing skill training, international certification opportunities, and overseas employment for the beneficiaries.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting underscored the potential for a strengthened partnership between BISP and ADB, focusing on integrating skill development and poverty graduation programs at the provincial level with BISP’s efforts. Senator Khalid emphasized that BISP currently assists 9.3 million families, with projections to reach 10 million by year-end, highlighting the critical need for collaborative efforts to ensure the program’s expansion and effectiveness.
Country Director Fan expressed ADB’s full support in advancing these goals, marking a significant commitment to improving the socioeconomic conditions of millions of Pakistanis through targeted training and job facilitation programs.
