ADB Approves $250 Million Loan for Electricity Infrastructure in Pakistan

Islamabad, The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $250 million loan to enhance the reliability of electricity supply in Pakistan. The funding is aimed at expanding and improving the power transmission network in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thereby reinforcing the stability of the national grid.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Yevgeniy Zhukov, ADB Director General for Central and West Asia, stated that the project aligns with ADB’s continued support to Pakistan’s National Transmission & Despatch Company Limited. The initiative is expected to increase the transmission capacity of the national grid, playing a crucial role in ensuring stable and efficient electricity distribution across the country. This investment marks a significant step towards addressing Pakistan’s energy infrastructure needs and boosting its economic growth.
