Islamabad, On the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, Acting President of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, commemorated the 26th anniversary of Pakistan’s nuclear tests, a pivotal event in the nation’s history. This day is celebrated to remember the moment Pakistan became a nuclear power, highlighting its commitment to regional peace and stability.
According to Press Information Department, in his message, Gillani praised the efforts of Pakistan’s leaders and scientists whose determination overcame numerous challenges to achieve nuclear capability. He reflected on the contributions of leaders like Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who played crucial roles in Pakistan’s nuclear development.
Gillani reiterated Pakistan’s stance as a responsible nuclear state, emphasizing its adherence to international standards and commitment to credible minimum deterrence. The Acting President called for the nation to draw inspiration from this achievement to advance national defense and technological growth, maintaining a peaceful stance in South Asia.
