Islamabad: Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized the need to bolster Pakistan-Iran bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including trade, security, culture, and education during his meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam. The discussion underscored the multifaceted historical, religious, and cultural ties that bind the two nations, highlighting mutual respect and affection between their peoples.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Acting President advocated for maximizing the existing collaboration to enhance connectivity between the two countries and the broader region. He highlighted the importance of increasing people-to-people contacts and exchanging parliamentary delegations to strengthen the bonds of friendship.
The Iranian Ambassador informed that Pakistan is currently the fifth-largest trading partner of Iran. He called for exploring further avenues to increase the bilateral trade volume to ten billion dollars. Both leaders also condemned the atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Palestine and Lebanon, and discussed the role of the recent All Parties Conference in Pakistan, suggesting it could serve as a model for the Islamic world in supporting Palestine.
