Islamabad, Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral relations with Malaysia, highlighting mutual benefits and existing cooperation between the two nations. He made these remarks during a meeting with the Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy, Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Rahman bin Ayob, and the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
According to Press Information Department, the discussion focused on enhancing collaboration in maritime sectors and building upon the solid foundation of cooperation at international forums. The Acting President noted the importance of ongoing naval exercises and training programs between Pakistan and Malaysia and expressed hope that these efforts would deepen ties between the two navies. He also voiced support for Malaysia’s ongoing participation in the AMAN exercises and Pakistan’s aspirations to become a Full Dialogue Partner of ASEAN.
During the visit, a special investiture ceremony was held where Admiral Abdul Rahman bin Ayob was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military). This honor recognized his significant contributions to fostering cooperation between the Royal Malaysian Navy and the Pakistan Navy. Admiral Abdul Rahman expressed his gratitude for the award and reiterated his commitment to strengthening naval collaboration between the two countries.
