A Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Senate of Pakistan and the World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan

Islamabad, February 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Senate of Pakistan and the World Wide Fund for Nature- Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan). The MoU was signed by the Secretary, Mr. Muhammad Qasim Samad Khan, and Director General, WWF-Pakistan, Mr. Hammad Naqi Khan on Wednesday, 02 February, 2022, at the Parliament House.

The MoU seeks to establish institutional cooperation between the Senate Secretariat and WWF-Pakistan on expanding the conservation and ‘green’ mandate in Pakistan, and assisting the Members and Committees on issues relevant to environment and climate change through subject experts.

The partnership established under the MoU looks to use the expertise of WWF-Pakistan in the subject areas of climate change and environmental conservation to support the Senate Secretariat in; planning/implementing awareness-raising and capacity-building initiatives for Members and the Secretariat, promoting Senate’s interaction and ideas-sharing with other parliaments, providing expertise to Committees on need basis, and, establishing and operationalizing a comprehensive parliamentary outreach programme.

On the occasion, the Secretary Senate underlined that sector-wise collaboration and partnership initiatives between the public, private and social sector institutions were a key to promoting climate change and relevant issues in Pakistan.
