Lahore, February 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that eradication of extremism, intolerance and violence from the society is a common national responsibility of all of us in which every person performing public service has to play his role in the best possible way. He said that women police officers are given important posts in the field alongside men so that they can easily advance in their public service duties and professional careers.
Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that free registration of FIRs is a core component of our policy aimed at ensuring elimination of organized crime groups. IG Punjab said that strict measures are being taken against corruption, misuse of powers and non-professionalism.
In this regard, delay in registration of FIR is not tolerated at any cost and actions are taken against such negligence of officers and officials. Apart from holding them accountable, departmental inquiry is also initiated against such negligent officers and officials. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that with the effective use of information technology, the journey from traditional policing to IT based policing is in full swing and IT applications have been launched for the convenience of citizens and crime control.
Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that the use of modern technology and resources is being ensured to improve the working of the police station so that the problems of the citizens can be solved only at the police station level. IG Punjab said that people friendly and community policing is being promoted to restore the confidence of the police in the citizens and special traffic and police campaigns are also underway to make the citizens aware about the laws.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of 16 officers from 30 senior management course from National Institute of Management Peshawar at the Central Police Office here today. IG Punjab briefed the course participants about the ongoing reforms in Punjab Police and also answered questions.
Talking to the officers, IG Punjab said, “I am in touch with the families of the martyrs. Their best welfare is one of my top priorities.” He said that protection of life and property of the people and maintaining law and order is the first responsibility of the police for which concrete steps are being taken using all available resources.
On this occasion, Additional IG Operations and DIG Operations briefed the participants about the working of Punjab Police. At the end of the briefing, commemorative souvenirs were also exchanged between IG Punjab and the head of the delegation.
