Mumbai, June 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Maharashtra has recorded 1,881 new coronavirus cases, 81 per cent more than the previous day and highest since February 18, the state health department said. The state also reported one case of B.A.5 variant. No new pandemic-related death was reported during the day, the state health department said.
Mumbai alone accounted for 1,242 new cases, almost double the Monday’s count, the Indian media reported. On June 07, Maharashtra’s COVID-19 case tally rose to 7,896,114, while the death toll remained unchanged at 147,866. This rise in cases was highest since February 18 when the state had recorded 2,086 new cases. There are 8,432 active cases in Maharashtra now, the health department said.
