Doha, October 28, 2022 (PPI-OT): Eight retired officers of the Indian Navy working in a private company have been arrested in Qatar. The arrested Navy officers include ex-commander Purnendu Tiwari, former Navy commander Purnendu Tiwari, who received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award in 2019 from the then Indian President, Ram Nath Kovind.
Reports said the information about the arrest of these officers in Doha came to light from a social media post by a woman, Dr Meetu Bhargava. The post addressed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri and many others have urged them to bring the former officials back to India
