Madurai, August 26, 2023 (PPI-OT): At least eight persons were killed and twenty other injured in a train fire in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Officials said that the fire broke out inside a stationary train compartment in Madurai railway station in the wee hour of Saturday, resulting in the killing of eight persons and injuring of twenty others. They said “illegal gas cylinder” led to the blaze.
The passengers of the “private party coach” had arrived in Madurai district of state from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Collector M S Sangeetha said eight persons were killed in the fire accident in the train compartment. He said, twenty others with injuries have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
