76th Founding Day of AJK Government Set for Tomorrow

MIRPUR (AJK), The 76th Founding Day of the Azad government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled to be celebrated tomorrow with fervour, marking the foundation of the AJK government. This event, which will be commemorated with the reaffirmation of the commitment to the Kashmir freedom movement, comes amidst a backdrop of political tension, especially given India’s revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir four years prior.

According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, the decision by India on August 5, four years ago, to abrogate Articles 370 and 35-A of its constitution directly defied United Nations Resolutions pertaining to Kashmir. These resolutions emphasize the right to self-determination for the people of the disputed Jammu and Kashmir state, allowing them a plebiscite to determine their future.

The formation of the Azad Jammu Kashmir government is remembered annually. It was founded 76 years ago, on October 24, 1947, following the liberation of AJK from the Dogra rule, which had the support of India. During tomorrow’s celebration, speakers will elucidate on the day’s historical importance, and special prayers and Fateha will be conducted in memory of the Kashmiri martyrs. Additional prayers will be made for the success of the Jammu and Kashmir freedom movement and for the prosperity of the AJK State.

Given the heightened state of the Kashmiri freedom struggle, particularly in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the AJK government is taking special measures to ensure this Founding Day is suitably commemorated. The anniversary will largely focus on the instrumental role of the AJK in amplifying the freedom movement on a global stage and expressing unwavering solidarity with those in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The day will commence with prayers not only for the Kashmir freedom movement but also for the stability and prosperity of Pakistan, which is perceived as the ultimate destination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
