Srinagar, January 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, seven persons succumbed due to COVID-19 virus in the territory. The fresh record, by logging highest-ever 6747 COVID-19 positive in which Jammu region recorded 1875 cases and five casualties, Kashmir valley reported two fatalities and 4693 new cases and the Ladakh region logged 179 new cases. Out of five COVID-19 casualties in Jammu region, two were reported from Jammu district and one each in Reasi, Rajouri and Kishtwar districts.
A 55-year-old man, hailing from Bissi village in Pouni area of Reasi district, died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, while a 68-year-old man from Gangyal and an unknown person also succumbed due to the ailments and virus in the Jammu GMC.
A 75-year-old man from Dodaj in Darhal, area of Rajouri district, who was also co-morbid and infected by COVID-19, passed away in 150 GH, Rajouri, while a 70-year-old man from near Post Office Kishtwar died due to the virus in District Hospital, Kishtwar. Meanwhile, people in Jammu city and outskirts said that some wine shops remained open while other shops and business establishments were closed.
People, who don’t want to be quoted, said as per the authorities order, shops of only essential commodities are allowed to open while the wine shops at many places in Jammu remained open. In Kashmir two persons, who were suffering from infection, succumbed. Meanwhile, the Ladakh region reported 179 fresh COVID-19 positive cases, including 112 in Leh district and 67 in Kargil.
