Islamabad, The 6th Maritime Security Workshop participants recently visited the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, an event that provided insights into the maritime challenges in the region and the Pakistan Navy’s responses to these challenges. The visit included briefings and interactive sessions with high-ranking naval officials.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Sindh, the delegation was led by Commandant Pakistan Navy War College Rear Admiral Javed Iqbal. The participants received a detailed briefing on regional maritime challenges and the Pakistan Navy’s contributions to promoting maritime awareness and the prospects of the Blue Economy. This was followed by an interactive session with the Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami.
During the session, Vice Admiral Bilgrami discussed various issues related to maritime security and the Pakistan Navy’s efforts to enhance maritime awareness in the country. He highlighted initiatives aimed at enhancing maritime and coastal security, operational readiness, and the navy’s contributions to education, healthcare, and the socio-economic upliftment of the coastal community. The admiral encouraged the participants to support and contribute to the exploitation of untapped maritime resources in their respective capacities as policymakers, investors, academics, and media influencers.
The workshop’s participants included senators, parliamentarians, policymakers, bureaucrats, academia, entrepreneurs, and media representatives. They expressed high appreciation for the Pakistan Navy’s role and efforts in effectively addressing maritime challenges faced by the country and offered valuable suggestions.
