Jammu: A new group of 6,900 pilgrims embarked on their journey to the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir on Friday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, officials reported that this eighth batch departed from the Bhagwati-Nagar Yatri Niwas in 277 vehicles, heading towards the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam. Among the pilgrims, 4,377 opted for the traditional 48-km route via Pahalgam, while 2,542 chose the shorter but steeper 14-km route via Baltal.
The annual 52-day pilgrimage, known as the Amarnath Yatra, officially commenced on June 29 and is set to conclude on August 19.
