657 Indian paramilitary personnel committed suicide in 5 years, admits Modi govt 

New Delhi, August 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Indian government has admitted that as many as 657 personnel belonging to the paramilitary forces like the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF) died by suicide in the past five years.

Indian Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Wednesday informed the Rajya Sabha, upper house of Indian parliament, that 153 personnel died by suicide in 2021, 149 in 2020, 133 in 2019, 97 in 2018 and 125 in 2017.

Independent sources, however, say the actual of number of suicide cases among Indian paramilitary forces is far more than stated by the Indian minister as around 450 Indian paramilitary personnel had taken their life in IIOJK alone since January 2007.
