Islamabad: Fifty-six Pakistanis, comprising five women and fifty-one men, have been released from Sri Lankan prisons and returned to Pakistan on a specially chartered flight after spending several years incarcerated.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the repatriation of these individuals was significantly supported by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who engaged directly with the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to expedite their release. Additionally, Abdul Aleem Khan, the Federal Minister for Privatization, played a crucial role by covering all the expenses associated with their return, ensuring a smooth transition for the former prisoners back to their homeland.
The group’s arrival marks a significant moment, reflecting the ongoing diplomatic efforts and cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in addressing consular matters and enhancing bilateral relations.
