34 dead, including 11 children, in two fire tragedies in India

New Delhi, Two separate fire incidents in India have resulted in the deaths of 34 individuals, including 11 children. The tragedies struck in Gujarat and Delhi, causing widespread distress across the nation.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the first incident occurred at an amusement park in Rajkot, Gujarat, where a fire claimed 27 lives, among them four children. The fire broke out on Saturday evening within a two-story structure, entrapping over 300 visitors. Efforts to escape were frantic, with survivors reporting that they had to forcibly open doors and jump from windows. The construction materials of the building, which were highly flammable, contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. Identification of the victims is ongoing, as many of the bodies were severely burned.

In a separate and equally tragic event, a fire at a children’s hospital in Delhi’s Shahdara district led to the deaths of seven newborns. The fire erupted at the Baby Care New Born Hospital. Although 12 infants were initially rescued, seven later succumbed to their injuries. The remaining five are currently under medical care at another facility. Subsequent to the fire, Delhi police apprehended the hospital’s owner, Dr. Naveen Kichi, who had fled the scene. This incident has intensified calls for justice and the implementation of stricter safety measures.

In response to these devastating events, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his condolences to the bereaved families and expressed his sorrow. The nation mourns as it confronts the need for enhanced safety protocols to avert future tragedies.
