Lahore, February 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):Significant milestone has been achieved by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) and the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) for enhancing the safety and security of the metropolis. In the first phase, 300 cameras of mass transit authority feeder buses route are linked with PSCA’s monitoring facility.
The Chief Operating Officer of PSCA DIG Muhammad Kamran Khan and GM operations PMTA Uzair Shah inaugurated the camera integration during a ceremony held at Punjab Safe Cities Authority headquarters, Qurban Lines Lahore. According to details, more than 1000 cameras of Orange Line Metro Train and more than 300 cameras of Metro Bus route and stops will be integrated with PSCA in the second phase. On this occasion, the chief Operating Officer DIG Kamran Khan said that the authority will also provide a disaster recovery facility to PMTA for data security.
The integration of cameras will help law enforcement agencies during their investigations, he added. The milestone development will enhance public safety and security in the city, added the DIG. Muhammad Kamran Khan further added that it’s recognized as an international best practice to integrate private cameras with the government’s monitoring system for efficient surveillance. The General Manager Operations PMTA, Mr. Uzair Shah said that the collaboration of Mass Transit Authority and Punjab Safe Cities Authority would be beneficial for the public and we must continue this collaboration as a national cause.
