26 years on, justice continues to elude Jaleel Andrabi’s family 

Islamabad, March 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Justice continues to elude family of martyred noted human rights activist and lawyer, Jaleel Andrabi despite the passage of 26 years. Jaleel Andrabi was arrested by Major Avtar Singh of 35th Rashtriya Rifles on March 8, 1996, and three weeks later his body was found floating in the Jhelum River, said a report released by Kashmir Media Service, today.

It said March 27 marks the 26th martyrdom anniversary of Jaleel Andrabi, adding 26 years have passed when his body was found floating in Jhelum River days after his arrest on March 08, 1996. The report said Jaleel Andrabi was murdered for documenting human rights violations by Indian troops in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir IIOJK as till his death, he remained a vocal critic of the crimes committed by Indian troops in the territory.

It said that Jaleel Andrabi sacrificed his life for the cause of Kashmir, adding the gruesome murders of Jaleel Andrabi and other activists remain etched in Kashmiris’ memory and the people of Kashmir could never forget the sacrifices of martyrs like Jaleel Andrabi.
