Kurram: In a significant security operation, Pakistan’s armed forces have effectively neutralized 25 militants belonging to the group Fitna al-Hindustan in the Kurram and North Waziristan districts, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operation comes amid ongoing border tensions and diplomatic discussions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Security forces detected two large groups of Khawarij attempting to infiltrate across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near Ghaki in Kurram District and Spinwam in North Waziristan District. Upon detection, the Pakistani troops engaged the militants, resulting in the elimination of 15 individuals, including four alleged suicide bombers from the Indian proxy group, Fitna al Khwarij, in North Waziristan. In Kurram District, another 10 militants were killed.
The operation also led to the seizure of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the militants. Despite the success, the operation claimed the lives of five Pakistani soldiers, who are being hailed for their bravery. The fallen soldiers have been identified as Havildar Manzoor Hussain, Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kiyani, Sepoy Muhammad Adil, Sepoy Shah Jehan, and Sepoy Ali Asghar.
The timing of the infiltration attempts, coinciding with diplomatic talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Türkiye, raises questions about the Afghan interim government’s commitment to combating cross-border terrorism. Pakistan has reiterated its demand for effective border management by Afghanistan as per the Doha Agreement, urging the Afghan government to prevent the use of its soil for activities against Pakistan.
Pakistan’s security forces remain steadfast in their mission to safeguard the nation’s borders. The current operation is part of the broader counter-terrorism strategy under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” initiative, which aims to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country. The security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan are determined to continue their efforts in this regard.
