25 Kashmiri detainees shifted from Srinagar to Poonch

Srinagar, October 09, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities are shifting the illegally detained Kashmiris lodged in Srinagar Central Jail to the prisons outside the Kashmir Valley. The authorities have shifted at least 25 detainees from Srinagar Central Jail to the Poonch jail in Jammu region. These prisoners include Aadil Zargar, Dawood Zargar, Sajjad Ahmed Butt, Muhammad Iqbal Wani, Junaid Farooq, Abbas Najjar, Shabbir Ganai, Mushtaq Ahmed, Aqib Fayyaz, Aadil Dar, Ejaz Ahmed, Rafiq Khattana, Abdar Ahmed, Mudassar Fayyaz and Ishaq Ahmed.

The move is violation of the Indian Supreme Court ruling which has made it clear that prisoners should be kept in the jails nearest to their homes to make it easier for their families to visit them. Such move is a grave violation of human rights of the detainees.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League Acting Chairman, Abdul Ahad Parra, in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the occupation authorities’ action. He appealed to the world human rights organizations to stop the Indian government from victimizing the Kashmiri detainees for their political beliefs.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Young Mens League, Zahid Ashraf, in a statement in Islamabad also denounced the shifting of Kashmiri detainees from Srinagar Central Jail to the prisons outside the Kashmir Valley. He termed the move as the gross violation of human rights.

Zahid Ashraf strongly condemned the continued detention of Aadil Zargar and Dawood Zargar, both relative of the prominent freedom activist, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar. He said that they were arrested for their only sin of being relatives of Mushtaq Zargar. He called upon the world human rights organizations to hold Modi-led communal Indian government accountable for its atrocities on the people of IIOJK.
